My mind was clouded For a moment my hopes were shrouded. It was as if spirits I consumed, Consumed my own spirit.

6 Common, but Misleading Food Label Claims:

www.miteshk.blogspot.com
A recent New York Times blog post discussed phrases frequently used to tout the health benefits of foods. As a conscious consumer, don't be duped by these non-regulated claims. These terms should make you raise your eyebrows and a take a closer look at the label.

1. "Lightly-sweetened"
Cereal packages often contain the phrase "lightly sweetened" to suggest less sugar. But the FDA doesn't regulate the term, so your "lightly-frosted" wheat-somethings, for instance, are probably loaded with sugar.
2. "A good source of fiber"
Often the fiber in some products that claim they are "a good source of fiber" doesn't come from traditional sources -- such as whole grains, bean, vegetables or fruit -- known to have health benefits. Instead, added "isolated fibers" made from chicory root or purified powders of polydextrose, that haven't been shown to be beneficial, are used.
3. "Strengthens your immune system"
This is the kind of clever word-smithing that gets around FDA rules about health claims and indicates that product will help ward off disease, even if it won't. Other phrases to look out for include "a daily dose of vitamin C" (often seen on frozen vegetables packaging) and "Antioxidants to help support the immune system."
4. "Made with real fruit"
Often fruit is pictured on the packaging and is in such small quantities that its health benefits are negligible. Many products that contain said fruit also are loaded with corn syrup and sugar.
5. "Made with whole grains"
This one is tricky and a doctor friend explained it to me after I asked what type of bread is the healthiest. Many food products can claim that they contain whole grains. This is true even if refined flour is first ingredient and the amount of whole grains (such as barley, brown rice, bulgur, millet, oatmeal, and whole wheat) are minimal.
6. "All natural"
This one seems to be the biggie. The FDA has issued several warning letters to companies making misleading "all natural" claims, but they also never made any formal rules about it. As a result, many products say they are "all natural," but officially speaking, the phrasing on packaging is pretty useless.

The bottom line? Keep your eyes peeled and your "all natural" radar tuned to high when you enter a food store. Want to eliminate some of the need to read food labels? Know where your food comes from. And just remember, a bright berry, berry colored cereal may not be berry good for you.

DO you feel the BUZZ - GOOGLE BUZZ

www.miteshk.blogspot.com
well , it was yesterday when i opened my gmail inbox , i was introduced to a new box in my inbox , a small but powerful nameGoogle buzz..

for the starters its Google's attempt to break in into Facebook and twitter's battlefield , making it a three way fight considering orkut (another Google owned site : has lost its face to Facebook and cannot follow twitter- if u know what i mean).
SO WHATS THE BUZZ all about...
this  new media tool allows users to share messages, web links, photos and videos with friends and colleagues directly within the popular email  Gmail, so there's nothing to set up - you're automatically following the people you email and chat with the most,Each time you posts a message, photo or link they can choose to share it publicly with the world or privately to a small group of friends.

five key features that define Google Buzz:
- Key feature #1: Auto-following
- Key feature #2: Rich, fast sharing experience
- Key feature #3: Public and private sharing
- Key feature #4: Inbox integration
- Key feature #5: Just the good stuff

Responses are sent to the user's inbox, unlike static email messages, buzz messages in your inbox are live conversations where comments appear in real time.Content from Twitter can also be shared, but users can only see tweets within Buzz and cannot publish new messages to Twitter's service.Buzz is unable to display messages that originated on Facebook which is serious problem...

SO WHY SECOND ATTEMPT at SOCIAL NETWORKING - why moving away from the core expertise , WHY , WHY WHY- answer is one word - FACEBOOK.........

With more than 400 million users, Facebook is the world’s largest social network; Twitter by contrast has only18 million or so. Gmail’s unique (i again say unique ) visitors numbered around 36 million as of last year. Clearly, Facebook is dominating. Google is attempting to challenge that dominance with Buzz, but Facebook is at the same time planning to move just as aggressively into Google’s territory.
It was recently discovered that Facebook will eventually launch its own webmail service. You can already send messages to e-mail addresses from Facebook, but the execution isn’t as smooth as it needs to be. The new e-mail plan would address that.
Codenamed Project Titan, the service would offer users e-mail addresses ending in @facebook.com. Facebook would become the largest webmail provider overnight. If the service is functional enough, it could threaten Google’s Gmail. People will be able to comfortably make the switch because they won’t lose the ability to e-mail their Gmail contacts — even if they move to another mail provider.
I predicted at the end of last year that Facebook is well-poised to try to pry web dominance away from Google in 2010. Buzz doesn’t change my mind. Facebook is threatening Google, but Google isn’t threatening Facebook because it doesn’t offer any features so great that they incentivize people to leave behind their existing networks or spend their time updating and following yet another one when their friends are already all on Facebook or Twitter.
Facebook now dominates the social web so completely that it’s difficult to imagine an exodus to a competing service, unless that service offered some revolutionary new features that Facebook couldn’t possibly match — Buzz doesn’t.
I can picture one other success scenario, though: a service that aggregates other services’ features and content, and then offers up its own set of unique perks (like Buzz’s noise-control algorithms) that make the social web experience better. People would feel comfortable switching for the extra perks, because they wouldn’t have to leave their existing connections behind.
The outlook could change if Buzz integrates with Facebook the way it does with Twitter. Unless that happens, though, you’re better off keeping your bets on Facebook in the coming year or two — at least if your standard of success is something greater than niche appeal.

love

www.miteshk.blogspot.com

Love is like an hour glass.
For she is just a lonely lass.
You try to resist but to no avail.
The tears refuse to fail.

She walks away without one word.
You sit there quietly reveling in what you heard.
You tell yourself you don't need her.
Then you realize she was all you had.

You lose it all.
Then you hear her call.
You try to find her.
But, she is no where to be found.

We all disappoint someone, sometime... right? We do our best and yet sometimes we find ourselves just being thoughtless and perhaps selfish. The problem is that sometimes we hurt other people without thinking how deep the repercussions that fall on the ones we love the most might become. Sometimes we don't even realize the hurt we have caused until months later.

Courier: Microsoft's warrior which can make iPAD sweat .

www.miteshk.blogspot.com

let me begin with saying that i am a staunch Apple Inc supporter and not impressed by behemoths like Microsoft , so when iPAD came i had my own reasons to cheer up, but may be for the first time (at least for me) i see Microsoft has got something on their hand which has left me HIGH and wanting , and trust me only Microsoft product i have ever like is Zune music player (software). BUT BUT BUT
TAKE A LOOK AT THIS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3e5bgj7Ofs

Closeup of a stone sign bearing the Microsoft ...Image via Wikipedia

THIS is what Courier looks like , just like your other notebook but totally digital , split screen baby with stylus  interface , if you have had a look at the video you will fairly understand why i Love it and why i think that it has the potential to change the way we work ,

hereImage via Wikipedia

Using multi-touch, objects (like addresses) can be moved back and forth between the two screens, while a stylus pen lets you jot down notes and keep various journals.
There’s a “home” button, much like iPhone, that lets you get back to the device’s applications, or set a journal as the device’s homepage.
there’s also a camera on the back cover of the device.
Essentially, what we’re looking at is an Internet connected, touch screen device that takes the form of a traditional notebook. And looking at the presentation, that interface makes a lot of sense, as objects from one side of the device are moved easily to the other, almost like the note-taking type applications we’ve grown familiar with on the Web, but on a tablet-like computer.
THOUGH both APPLE and MICROSOFT are known to mess up wid first gen product , I still see a new war between these two legends quiet eminent on the horizon , maybe its already time for APPLE to spruce iPAD .

as from my side - MAY THE BEST DEVICE WIN..

P.S.- special thanks to Sanchita sogani for enlightening me to courier.
